Homeschooling Adventures - Year 3, Week 1

This week began our third year of homeschooling.
I really believe that God has called me to do this right now. Even on those days when we seem to be butting heads a lot - I still feel it's been the right decision.

Here is a picture of our school room about a week ago. This was midway through my intense cleaning/reorganizing of it. I was feeling pretty overwhelmed with it at this point. I didn't get it decently straightened until Sunday - starting school on Monday morning! :)

Elijah is joining his brothers this year at an enrichment program for homechoolers. Here he is showing off his new (and free!!) backpack he picked out at Staples. He is such a smart little thing - I just hope we can continue to work on him controlling the words he says! (He can be a little spitfire!)

Here is Zachary doing one of his reading assignments on Thursday. Hey - if he's getting it done, I don't care much what he's doing! :) And plus, he's had all week off of gymnastics, so that means a LOT of extra energy to use around the house.

Here are the boys on Thursday morning. Harrison is not wearing a robe. he is wearing a Japanese kimono bought for him by his Aunt Amanda.

The school years has started off well. Their enrichment program doesn't start for a couple of weeks, so that will change our schedule a bit. Harrison and Elijah will be going on T/Th while Zachary will only go on Mondays. We are using this as an opportunity to give Zachary more responsibility and privilege. While I am taking Harrison and Elijah to the program, he will be allowed to stay home alone as long as he shows good judgment. We've given him some chances to work on this over the summer, and so far he's done a great job. He's growing up so fast.
